Travel Resources
Below are the travel companies we use for all of our trips. When you purchase something through some of these links we get a little kickback but you pay the same, win-win!
Accommodation
Lovely and cozy accommodations are one of the first things we look at when planning our trips. We love being away from home without being completely uncomfortable with where we sleep.
- Booking.com
The largest collection of hotels can be found on booking.com. Find anything from hostels, appartments to hotels. And the more you use booking, the better discounts you can get. - Hostelworld
The largest collection of hostels and guesthouses. - VRBO
Formally, Airbnb was our favorite place to book appartments. However, due to some issues with their platform we moved over to VRBO and it has been a great experience so far. - TrustedHouseSitters
If you love animals, TrustedHouseSitters is a great option! These are people allowing you to live in their house for free if you can look after their pet or watering the plants while they are away.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is one of the first things we check when traveling, especially when planning an expensive trip or when traveling with a lot of gear like cameras and laptops we make sure our insurance is adjusted to our situation. You can relax and travel stress-free for a few dollars per day! (Read our guide to the best travel insurances)
- Heymondo
We have been a long-time Heymondo user with a Annual Multitrip insurance. We have used our policies mostly for medical coverage in Thailand and Costa Rica. Thailand was cheap but Costa Rica very(!) expensive so I was happy to have the insurance. On top of that we also had damage on electronic equipment. - SafetyWing
It is a flexible travel insurance for nomads by nomads. Compare both insurances and find out what suits you best.
Finding cheap flights
Saving on the price of a flight ticket is a massive budget-saver. There are quite a few tricks to find the cheapest flight tickets, but it starts with research.
- Skyscanner
This is our go-to tool when it comes to booking a flight. It is a flight comparison tool with very useful tools of the price of a flight per day. - Google Flights
This tool from Google is ideal for tracking flight prices and getting to know if the current price is a great deal or too expensive. Additionally their map tool is useful when you’re looking to fly ‘anywhere’ from your current destination.
Transportation
When it comes to getting around a destination we either travel by rental car, bus or train.
- SunnyCars (Rental Cars)
We prefer to be well-insured (because we’ve experienced a scam or two). Sunnycars has all insurances included in the price, so no hidden fees when collecting your car. - 12Go (Public transport)
Whether you need a train, bus or private shuttle. 12Go is the first place we look because they offer a bit of everything at many destinations around the world.
Purchasing a visa
Applying for a visa might be necessary when you travel to a new destination. Check on iVisa if you need a visa for your next travel destination. They provide a service to directly order your visa and have it all ready within a certain amount of time without any hassle.
