1. Cala Comte
Located on the northwest coast of Ibiza, you’ll find one of the best beaches in Ibiza, Spain: Cala Comte. This beautiful beach is known for its soft, golden sand and unbelievably clear waters. We spent our day sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the panoramic views while floating in the shallow waters.
If you love a bit of exploring, take a short walk towards Cala Escondida. You can access this smaller beach by taking a staircase carved into the cliffs. Here, you’ll find the charming Chinringuito Cala Escondida, a cozy beach bar perfect for a delicious lunch.
Tip: Head over to the beach club Sunset Ashram for a front-row seat to one of the best sunsets on the island.
Getting there
There’s a large parking area near Cala Comte Beach, but we recommend arriving early during the high season to secure a spot. Alternatively, you can take the L4 line bus from San Antonio directly to the beach. Check the schedule here.
We recommend to rent a car in Ibiza through Sunny Cars with free cancellation and insurance included. Book your rental car here.
2. Cala d’Hort – One of the Best Ibiza Beaches
This stunning beach on the island’s west coast offers one of the most iconic views in Ibiza, Spain. Cala d’Hort is also known for its direct view of Es Vedrà, a mystical rock formation that rises dramatically out of the sea.

While the beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, making it less comfortable for lounging all day, the scenery more than makes up for it. The view of Es Vedrà, coupled with the old authentic boat houses, made this one of the best beaches we visited during our time in Ibiza.

Getting there
You can access Cala d’Hort by car, but be aware that the parking can fill up quickly. We recommend arriving early so that you can find a good parking spot.
You can also take the bus services that run frequently in the summer for a stress-free trip! Get to Sant Josep de sa Talaia via the L8 line from Ibiza town (see schedule) and take the Alsa L42B to Cala d’Hort.

3. Portinatx
Portinatx is a charming resort town home to not just one but two of the most incredible Ibiza beaches. This northeastern location is also ideal for a relaxed holiday, with restaurants, shops, and beaches within walking distance of the shore.
We loved that this larger beach had soft white sand and plenty of natural shade, thanks to the surrounding trees – perfect for the hot summer months!

The larger of the two beaches is a stunning bay with shallow, crystal-clear water — making it the perfect spot for swimming and snorkeling. If you want more adventure, go scuba diving to the nearby shipwreck.
We recommend taking this leisurely stroll over the coastal path to the smaller beach. Walk towards Faro des Moscartar, a lovely lighthouse, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Getting there
Portinatx is well-connected by bus routes, making it easy to get around in this area. Bus line L20 goes from Ibiza Town straight to Portinatx. See the full schedule here.
If you’re coming by car, follow the signs and drive to the end of the Carretera de Portinatx. This road will lead you straight to the beach. You’ll also find plenty of spots for parking down here!
Note: Don’t leave any valuable belongings in your car, as theft from rental cars does happen. Our top tip is to remove the car rental sticker on the trunk to avoid any unwanted attention. Learn more about renting a car in Spain here.
4. Cala Benirràs
Cala Benirràs is one of the best beaches in Ibiza, not just because of its beautiful views but because of its famous hippy drumming sessions during sunset! This northeastern beach is a wide stretch of sand with emerald green waters, making it a beautiful spot to swim, sunbathe, or simply relax.
We think Cala Benirràs is the perfect place to spend the day. After all, you can enjoy the beach, visit the hippy market next to the beach to buy some handcrafted souvenirs (Hannah’s favorite thing to do!), and have lunch at Elements Eivissa Beach Club.
Top tip: Visit on a Sunday evening to experience the hippy drumming circle – we think it’s worth it! It celebrates music, dance, and the unique and fun Ibiza atmosphere.
Getting there
You can access the beach by car, with a small parking nearby. However, on busy days, the parking fills up quickly, and people park along the road. Because of this, we recommend arriving early to get a good parking spot!
You can also take a bus to the beach, which could be easiest during peak times when the beach fills up with sunset seekers. Take bus L25a to Sant Miquel de Balansat. From here, you can take a taxi or, on Sunday, take a shuttle bus to the beach.
We recommend to rent a car in Ibiza through Sunny Cars with free cancellation and insurance included. Book your rental car here.
5. Cala Gracioneta
Cala Gracioneta is a small sandy beach on the northwest coast of Ibiza. It’s perfect if you prefer a quieter spot away from the crowds; we loved how intimate and serene it felt.
Visit Cala Gracioneta on this half-day boat tour
Adding to the charm of Cala Gracioneta is Restaurante Cala Gracioneta, a beach bar that blends seamlessly with the natural landscape. The bohemian vibe of the restaurant makes it a great spot to enjoy lunch while soaking in the pretty views.
Tip: The nearby town of Sant Antoni is a perfect base for those looking for a mix of gorgeous beaches and plenty of nightlife and dining options, as it’s one of Ibiza’s larger towns. (See all hotels in Sant Antoni)
Getting there
Parking is available near Cala Gració (another great beach), just a short walk from Cala Gracioneta. You can also reach the beach by taking bus line L1. However, we recommend checking the schedule as services may vary.
6. Cala Saladeta (Our Favorite Ibiza Beach)
Cala Saladeta quickly became our favorite beach on the island. Located to the right of Cala Salada (another beautiful beach), this beach on the northern coast features a blend of sandy and rocky areas, with plenty of options for laying down your towel and relaxing. The crystal clear water, old boat houses, and surrounding cliffs make this the best and most scenic beach in Ibiza, maybe even Spain.
Tip: We recommend bringing water shoes, as some parts of the beach can be rocky!
It can get busy here during the summer, so if you want to enjoy the beach without the crowds, come early! You can access the beach via a well-maintained staircase, but prepare for a short but steep climb.
Enjoy one of the best sunsets in Ibiza on this sunset tour
Another great option is parking your car for free at Can Coix and then hopping on the L34 to the beach. This line comes all the way from San Antonio (see full schedule), so if you don’t have a rental car, this is a great option.
7. Cala Pluma
Cala Pluma is part of the Salines Natural Park, located on the southwest side of Ibiza. This spacious beach is also perfect for those who love walks along the shore, as you can walk all the way up to the nearby Torre de ses Portes (exact location here). Enjoy the stunning views of the coastline along the way.

Cala Pluma is one of the best beaches in Ibiza to go swimming because of the calm waters and sandy bottom. Moreover, this beach has a lot of space – it’s one of the largest beaches on this list! Grab a drink from one of the beach clubs and spend your day relaxing and exploring.
Note: Occasionally, the beach fills with jellyfish, so always check the circumstances before you go for a dip. You can check this jellyfish map online.
Getting there
There’s a large parking near the beach, but it fills up quickly, especially during high season. Alternatively, buses run frequently to the entrance of the Salines Natural Park (for example, this route here). From here, you have easy access to the beach!
8. Playa es Bol Nou
This small scenic beach is surrounded by high orange stone cliffs, creating a dramatic and picturesque setting. Playa es Bol Nou is a great option if you love a more intimate experience away from the bigger, crowded Ibiza beaches.
If you visit here, you can’t miss the hidden pathway past the restaurant! This path leads you to the top of the cliffs, where a small tunnel cave leads you to a panoramic view. Nick couldn’t stop taking photos of this picturesque spot.
Getting there
Playa es Bol Nou is accessible by car, and parking is available close to the beach. Reaching Playa es Bol Nou directly by public bus can be challenging, as no bus route stops directly at the beach. However, you can get close by taking bus L11 from Ibiza Town to Sant Jordi de ses Salines.
We recommend to rent a car in Ibiza through Sunny Cars with free cancellation and insurance included. Book your rental car here.
9. Cala Vadella – Best Beach for a Chill Day in Ibiza
Cala Vadella is a spacious, serene beach in a lovely bay on the west coast of Ibiza, Spain. The calm, clear waters make it a great spot for swimming. What’s more, this beach remains relatively unknown to most tourists, which means it feels less crowded.
Tip: Rent sunbeds from one of the restaurants on the beach and spend the day enjoying all this beach has to offer.
The town of Cala Valdelle is directly connected to the beach, so there are plenty of dining options. We think this is one of the best beaches in Ibiza if you want to enjoy a lovely lunch or dinner next to the beach (the perfect way to finish a day of relaxing!). Here are some of our favorites:
The area of Cala Vadella makes for a good base during your relaxed Ibiza holiday due to its beautiful beach and proximity to San José. From there, you can easily explore other parts of the island. (See all hotels in Cala Vadella)
Getting there
There’s more than enough parking available near the beach. Similarly, you can easily reach the town by bus. Take bus line L42B from Sant Josep de sa Talaia to Cala Vadella.
11. Visit the Incredible Beaches of Formentera
If you want to make your Ibiza experience even better, take a day trip to the stunning island of Formentera! Rent a scooter or car to explore the amazing beaches this island has to offer. Keep in mind that some of the roads leading to the beaches are off-road and sandy.
Formentera will surprise you with crystal clear beaches as well as rocky shores and hidden coves – perfect for a day of exploring! These were some of our favorite Formentera beaches:
- Platja de ses Illetes (sandy, crystal clear waters)
- Platja de Llevant (surfing)
- Platja de Migjorn (large beach, good for swimming)
- Calo des Mort (snorkeling)
- Cala en Baster (dramatic cliffs)
Tip: We recommend booking a hotel in Formentera of you have extra time to experience ultimate relaxation.
Getting to Formentera
Ferries depart frequently from Ibiza town, and tickets range between 29 and 50 euros, depending on the season. You can also book a day tour that includes ferry transfers, food, drinks, and activities like paddleboarding.
Buy your return ticket to Formentera in advance
How to Visit the Best Ibiza Beaches
Getting to Ibiza is easy, thanks to its international airport and frequent flights arriving from all over Europe – perfect for a sunny getaway! The airport is also conveniently located just 10-15 minutes by car from Ibiza Town.
Alternatively, take the budget-friendly option and hop on the L10 airport bus to the city center. This service runs regularly and takes about half an hour. You can order your tickets in advance here.
Did you know? Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands (alongside Mallorca, Menorca, and Formentera) located off the coast of mainland Spain. Because of this, it’s easy to reach by ferry or plane from cities like Barcelona or Valencia.
Getting Around
By Bus
Ibiza’s buses are a great way to explore the island’s beaches stress-free, especially during summer when routes are frequent. You can check schedules online or plan your trip with Google Maps. Most routes start from Ibiza Town or Sant Antonio and cost around 2 – 4 euros.
By Car
Renting a car offers more flexibility to visit remote beaches on the island. However, remember that during the summer months, Ibiza’s beaches get crowded, and parking can be difficult.
Note: A few times on our trip, Google Maps suggested unpaved roads unsuitable for standard rental cars. However, we always found an alternative, so don’t be afraid to reroute.
We recommend to rent a car in Ibiza through Sunny Cars with free cancellation and insurance included. Book your rental car here.
Ibiza Town
The ‘capital’ of Ibiza is a vibrant hub with plenty of accommodation options for every budget, excellent restaurants, and buzzing nightlife. From here, you can easily explore beaches like Cala Comte, Cala d’Hort, and Playa es Bol Nou. Public transport from Ibiza Town is excellent, making it easy to also explore other parts of the island.
Santa Eulària des Riu
This is a more tranquil option and ideal if you are looking for a relaxing vibe while staying near quieter beaches. Visit Playa es Bol Nou, Portinatx, and Cala Xarrace from here. It’s a bit further from the western beaches but still accessible by car or public transport. (See all hotels in Santa Eulària des Riu)
Best Cafes and Restaurants
Ibiza’s culinary scene is as vibrant as its beaches, with chill cafés as well as gourmet dining. After a day of exploring the coast, head to one of our favorite dining spots located near our featured Ibiza beaches:
- The Giri Café – Cala Benirràs
- Terra Masia – Playa es Bol Nou
- La Paloma – Cala d’Hort
- Cala d’Hort Restaurant – Cala d’Hort
- Santa G. Bagel House – Portinatx
- Restaurante Es Port – Portinatx
- Restaurante Cala Gracioneta – Cala Gracioneta
- Sunset Ashram – Cala Comte
- Restaurante Cala Salada – Cala Saladeta via Cala Salada
Always book restaurants in advance, especially in the summer months, when popular places get booked out weeks ahead of time.
Best Time to Visit the Ibiza Beaches
While Ibiza is stunning year-round, the best time to visit depends on what you’re looking for. Winter offers mild weather and empty beaches, but many restaurants and attractions will be closed. Summer months are vibrant but also really busy, so expect parking and beaches to be very crowded.
If you’re visiting in peak season, the beaches will be less busy between 2-4 PM as many locals take a break for lunch. However, keep in mind that this is also the hottest part of the day.
We recommend visiting in the shoulder seasons (April – May or September – October) when the weather is warm, there are fewer crowds, and restaurants and attractions are fully operational.
Our Top Tip: We visited in March, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Plus, we had the beaches entirely to ourselves!
