One of the best things to do in Trogir is to stroll through the charming streets and immerse yourself in the well-preserved medieval architecture that lines the alleys. Despite its small size, the town has many wonders to uncover. From the stunning city gate to the remains of the ancient city walls, there’s lots of history here.

Make your way past lively squares, browsing the quaint shops and capturing countless photos of all the picturesque buildings. From art galleries to ancient churches, Trogir’s tiny streets are full of detail, including idyllic stone balconies and cute courtyards. This part of the cathedral was completed in the 16th century and offers some of the most incredible panoramic views over Trogir and its beautiful surroundings.

3. Kamerlengo Castle

Look out over historic Trogir and the glistening sea up the top of a majestic 15th-century fortress. Located on the southwest part of the island, the so-called Kamerlengo Castle proudly rises from the sea and makes a must-visit when exploring the old town. Delve into the rich history of the trapeze-shaped fortress as you make your way past its commanding towers. 

The castle is open to the public and occasionally serves as a unique venue for performances, concerts, and film shows. Climb up the castle walls and be rewarded with some stunning vistas of the marina and beautiful old town. Entrance to the castle is 5 EUR (5.51).

4. Visit the Beaches on Čiovo Island

As it lies on the stunning Adriatic coastline of Croatia, Trogir is surrounded by some incredible beaches, especially on neighboring Ciovo Island. From hidden bays to the popular Okrug Gornji Beach, there are plenty of options to choose from. Hop on a boat, glide through the crystal-clear waters, and spend an afternoon soaking up the sun on the warm pebbles.

You can walk to these beaches from Trogir’s center, but you can also take a water taxi or drive there. You’ll find many lovely beach clubs like Beach Bar Borkko, Laganini Beach Club, and Beach Bar Lloyd perched along the waterfront. By Car 

From Split, it’s only a 40-minute drive to get to Trogir, making it a good destination to get to with your own transportation. 

By Bus

There’s also the option to hop on the local bus towards Trogir from Split, Sibenik, or Zadar. Buses run about every 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the day. From the station in Trogir, it’s only a three-minute walk to the Old Town. 

By Ferry

During the peak season, you can also hop on a ferry to Trogir from other locations along the Dalmatian coast. From Split, the ferry ride takes about one hour and can either be booked in advance or at the harbor in town. 

Organized Tour 

If you’re planning to see Trogir for just one day and don’t want to make up your own itinerary, you can join an organized tour. These well-organized tours usually include transportation and a guided walk through the old town. Sometimes, the trip even includes a boat tour to the stunning neighboring islands.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit the stunning historic town of Trogir is during the shoulder seasons (April to June and September to October). During this time, the weather remains warm, with comfortable temperatures around 15 – 25 degrees Celsius. This is perfect weather for outdoor activities, sightseeing, and enjoying the beaches.
